At Claremorris Equestrian Centre you have the option of attending weekly evening classes to help you prepare for your BHS Exams or you can apply to participate in our FETAC Certificate in Equestrian Instruction and BHSAI Traineeship in conjunction with Fás.

The FAS Traineeship aims to provide both school leavers and the unemployed with an excellent foundation in the skills and practical experience required to gain employment in the equine industry and to prepare them for examinations leading to recognised BHS Assistant Instructor qualifications. It is a programme run over 49 weeks which consists of 3 weeks off-the-job training with FÁS, 44 weeks training with ourselves and a final 2 weeks off-the-job training with FÁS.
- Students applying for FAS Traineeship must be resident in Ireland for 3 of the previous 5 years
- FAS will carry out Garda Vetting
- Students will not be paid any Training Allowance, however, they will be able to work and retain their unemployment or social welfare payments
- FAS may pay a weekly mileage payment or they may pay an overnight allowance depending on the distance travelled to the Centre and the circumstances of each student. Details of this can be finalised with FAS.
Suitable students must have reached the current statutory school leaving age of 16 years and must have achieved a pass in English at Junior Certificate (or equivalent) level. Applicants should enjoy working with horses, demonstrate an aptitude for horse riding and be capable of riding a quiet, experienced horse or pony at walk, trot and canter. They should also possess good communication skills and should enjoy working outdoors. They should be physically fit and be prepared for working unsociable hours including week-end work.
